Update: Wow, you came all the way back to my very first post! These days, not many visitors venture this far into the depths for the blog.

You’re seeing this website after its second rebranding. It started out as “RichQuickReview”, a blog with the purpose of reviewing online marketing and “how to make money” type products. I soon noticed that those products were generally rubbish and I wasn’t very interested in them anyway, so the site became im impact. This is where I reviewed various online marketing tools, wrote about my experiences with SEO, product creation and building my own businesses. Work on those businesses soon took over all my time and posting on im impact became infrequent. Next, the site was revived as ActiveGrowth, with a team of people helping me to bring back the value that the site used to bring to the community through in-depth reviews and behind-the-scenes reports from growing our businesses.

I believe that you can learn a lot from watching someone else’s process, which is why you’ll find my original welcome post below (as well as all of my old posts, no matter how cringe-worthy they seem now).

Hello and welcome to this website! The central purpose of this blog is to provide honest, thorough and objective reviews of online marketing related products. Often, these products are presented as “get-rich-quick” opportunities and they come in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes as a simple ebook, sometimes as a complex, huge system containing video-courses, reading-material, software, special-privilege forums and personal coaching. Sometimes you’ll see peripheral get-rich-quick material sold for very particular purposes: a piece of software for finding profitable keywords, design-templates for high-conversion sales-pages or a guide on how to write attention-grabbing Google-ads, perhaps.

What you will be hard-pressed to find, however, is reliable information on whether these products are any good or not. This is a void that my site is here to fill.

Things to Come

At the time of this writing, there isn’t much to see on the site yet. It’s only just been launched and every website has to start somewhere (“somewhere” usually being “scratch”). Now, you will soon find my first in-depth review of a get-rich-quick product, more specifically a guide to affiliate marketing. As you can imagine, testing such a product takes quite a bit of time. Remember, I am actually testing the products, not just writing positive reviews in order to promote my own sales of it. This is what separates this site from countless other sites: they do “reviews” (picture: exaggerated air-quotes), I do reviews.

The reason I am doing this is because I think it is dearly needed. An affiliate program is tremendously good for an individual product, but in the long term, it’s bad for the overall market. Because practically every online marketing product comes with an affiliate program, there are lots of eager marketers buzzing all over the place, trying to sell these products by any means possible. This is great for the sales of the individual products, because dozens or even hundreds of affiliate marketers will inevitably generate more sales than the author of the program ever could on his own. But it is bad for the market as a whole because so many people have a vested interest in the products that nobody criticizes them. Why should you write about how bad a product is on your blog, for instance, if you can use the same space to write a few lines of praise, throw in an affiliate link and make some money?

Welcome to the Swamp

As a result of this, the “online-marketing market” is a scam-ridden, overhyped, bold-red-letters-flooded swamp of bullshit and misinformation. Anyone encountering this market for the first time is likely to A) get sucked into it instantly by all the hype, get into some program before knowing anything about it (“Hey, I’ll be making millions by the end of the week! I can’t risk not trying this!”) and probably end up regretting it or B) instantly dismiss it.

That’s too bad, really, because there is an actual market here, a diamond, so to speak, somewhere in this humongous pile of dung. There really are people making money with online marketing and there really are guides and programs that can help you get into online marketing. Perhaps some of them even have the capacity to make you rich quickly, but how would you ever find them among all the crap?

Well, soon enough, you’ll find them right here. I can’t tell the good from the bad products by just looking at them, either, so I will just have to try them all. I will tell you exactly what the products I test are about, whether they are worth your time and money and, most importantly, whether they will really help you generate some income or not. And believe me, I will call out the bad apples. I will call them out and I will enjoy it.

In the meantime, and in between the reviews, I will be filling this website with as much useful information and resources on the subject of online marketing as I can. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you around again, soon!

That’s it for now.

    Hi Shane,
I got to know about you when I was using Article Marketing Robot and bumped into your review of the same. I’m impressed by your unbiased and honest reviews. So I decided to start from the beginning and here I am. I am a freelance copywriter, now into link building work for my clients and my entry into IM has been inspired mainly by the wonderful guidance from you regarding Keyword research etc for free. I am quite confident of making some headway in IM with your practical advice. Thanks for sharing such invaluable knowledge. I am a great fan of yours, will keep reading your stuff and benefit from it. Thanks again Shane.

    • Shane says:

Wow, you made it all the way back here? :)

I didn’t even change anything about this post, because I thought no one would ever look at it, anyway…
Thank you very much for your kind comment!

        Hi Shane,
I am a big fan and a member of Thrive Themes and your podcasts, and yes I’ve decide to start from your first welcome post.
Part of the reason is that I was trying to search for an old podcast I was listening too last year but since you don’t have categories or search box listed, I could not do it. It was about how much time on earth we have left with, and you were referring to someone’s theory about boxes, etc… I wanted to write a post about it and needed a refresher.
Keep doing what you are doing, you and your team bring tons of value to solopreneurs like myself. Happy Holidays! Violeta

      • Thank you for your comment, Violeta!

Sorry about the navigation problems. Perhaps it’s this episode that you were looking for?

Hey Shane, been following your fab site for about 3 months now. Love you style & top quality info. So here I am, right back at the beginning and about to plough through every post since you started! Will be commenting along the way, no doubt. I know I must be deranged, but I want to make sure I haven’t missed out something super-valuable by being late-comer!

    • Shane says:

      Hi Griff,

Wow, thanks! Didn’t think anyone would make it all the way back here anymore.
I hope my older stuff isn’t a let-down. Looking forward to your comments and thoughts.

  • Yea I was one of those people who came back to the beginning! :)

Hey Shane, I have decided to go through all of your posts starting today – one blog per day and finish of all or most of them by the end of this year. I am attracted to your blog since I have a feeling that you are an honest and knowledgeable guy from whom I can learn much!

BTW, is there pedetermined publishing frequency of your blog posts?

    • Umm… I’m not sure that’s a good use of your time, mate. Sure, browse through them to have a laugh and learn a thing or two. But a lot of the older content here is definitely not worth closer study. :)

I don’t have a publishing schedule, no. Not that I shouldn’t have one, just that this site has always been a bit of a side project, next to other, more important stuff.

      • bibhash.roy says:

OK, then how do I follow your blog to get most out of it – start from beginning of 2018 or only follow your latest ones?
