Note
Since the recording, the redirect issue has actually been solved! You can test it out by going to any richquickreview URL and you should automatically end up on the appropriate page on IM Impact.
Here’s the post with the details on the re-branding: Welcome to IM Impact!
Let me know how you like the new look and new name!
Cheers,

Note that I don’t reply to all comments, but I do read them all. If I don’t reply to your comment, it most likely means that I agree with what you say and don’t have anything meaningful to add, myself. I appreciate and read all comments and your comments play an important part in what I write about, so keep them coming.
Spammy comments are always filtered or removed. No surprise there.

Haha. Your grin at first made me smile too.
Shane,
Congratulation!
Simpler look, but I read somewhere long time ago that by having flash is not good for SEO … is that right? I don’t know if I remember it correctly, but when I see your new homepage, that is the number one thing that draws my attention. It looks ‘modern’ though.
Regards,
The homepage slider isn’t flash. I think it’s JQuery based.
Flash can’t be read by search engines, so it’s definitely a bad idea to have an entire site based on it. However, I think Google have already started crawling flash to a certain extent. Don’t know the details, though.
Congrats to the new site! It will be very interesting to follow your re-branding and site moving series.
The technical side of the whole internet business is what slows me down forever it seems. Once you thought things are working fine and sorted, it starts on another end again… a never ending maintenance, so to speak.
But, really well done the new look and feel :)
Thanks!
I think I’ll need to hire a “tech-person” at some point, to help me with these types of stumbling blocks. Seems like the perfect thing for outsourcing.

Flash is horrible for SEO

Hey Shane–
like the new look and name! (much better than that “cheese” idea ;-)
I know the results aren’t in yet, but could you tell us how to transfer a site without losing page rankings?
that’s something I suspect I will need to do as well,
I’ve seen some tech guys advertising “transfer your site to wp” as a service, so it would be helpful to know how to do it properly.
btw video stops at 2:58 “I don’t consider myself”–I tried sliding it back a few times, but it still stalls right at that point. is that a glitch on my end, or yours?
look forward to your seo faq videos!
Rik
Video’s working for me, so I’m not sure what the issue is. Seems like no matter the player and format, video just never works for everyone.
Here’s the guide I used for the domain transition.
Nice new domain name and the look of the blog so far is rather too stark for me!
Glad you got your 301s sorted!
All The Best
Alex
Your new design – stylish, but a bit bland, if you ask me. Still, a lot better than RQR. I like the name alot, though.
Is this a custom theme? Made by who?
If you haven’t yet ordered a logo, logotournament.com might be a good choice…
I got the theme from Themeforest.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll check out logotournament. :)
Love the new domain name and tagline, Shane! (By the way, you night want to try logonerds.com for a dirt cheap logo – i just ordered one myself for a new site i’m working on.) Gosh, we must be living in parallel universes involving “technical issues limbo” because I too continue to have issues daily. Unfortunately in my case the state of limbo has been going on for months, not weeks. Hopefully we will both experience big break-throughs very soon! My burning SEO question is “How many KWs should I realistically try to rank for? I’ve done my KW research and I have long lists of the traffic each one gets. Is it silly to try and rank for 10-20 KWs when most of the traffic comes from the first two? Is trying to maintain (and improve) semi-decent rankings for the first two KWs to the exclusion of everything else not akin to putting all my eggs in one basket? Thanks, Shane…as always!
Thanks for the tip!
And also thanks for the SEO question, I’ll add that to the video queue. :)
P.S. You might want to slow down the transition between the photo changes in your header. It changes too quickly IMHO and therefore is a little hard on the eyes…at least it is on these old eyes! I have a flash movie of a few nice photos on my website you might want to check out. I think the transitions are less obtrusive. The engineers might have inserted a fade transition between each, I’m not sure, but have a look to see what I mean and then look at your’s again. I think you’ll see what I mean. :-D
Agreed, the homepage needs a lot more work and the transitions are too fast. All in due time.
Be interesting to see how the redirects affect ranking, hopefully it all transfers directly to the new site with all the old content being on it
New site looks very clean
So far, it looks like many of my rankings are back where they used to be after only about a week.
I’ll have a full update on this in another week or so.
Traffic is already pretty decent again, I’m glad to say. :)
Hi Shane,
I am a green newbie, I discovered you back in the summer and remained on your list, I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to find someone who has not graduated from the School of Marketing Hype and B.S.
I really like this new look and name – very professional and sophisticated but I did think I landed on the wrong site for a few seconds…
I especially like the home page.
Congratulations and well done.
Oh yeah, I flunked the school of Marketing Hype and BS, I’m glad to say. :)
Thank you very much for your input! I’m glad to have you as a subscriber!
hey Shane, I like the look of your new site. Site name also has a good ring to it.
Minimalist themes have a special place in my heart, so your new site design has won me over :)
cheers.
Shane
I feel I want to send you a big hug (which is ok as I am old enough to be your Mum!) – you look really tired but I just want you to know that from this end, it really looks worth all the effort – sleek and stylish – love the new name, which is much more in keeping with your ethos and principles.
I am so glad I found you on the internet as your teaching has been invaluable. 2011 is going to be a brilliant year for you!
Alison
Hi Alison. Thanks!
Yeah, I guess I was pretty tired when I shot that video.
No doubt 2011 is going to be fun. :)
Hi Shane,
Nice name for the new site. Bit black and white.
You’re right, everything, especially (technical) problems are a learning experience.
I hope you’re able to leave these problems behinds.
Keep up the good work,
jan
Simple, sleek good looking….but enough about me
You new theme follows Google’s approach. Clean and easy
Nice title too
Good luck with it in the future
Peter
Congratulations Shane! The new name is very appropriate, short and to the point … I enjoyed your happy smile too!
You’re off to a successful IM career,
Fran :)
Hi Shane,
The IM IM (Internet Mktg Impact Mktg) site looks great. Interesting name and excellent tag line.
The design is simple and clean. The only exception is the home page where the banner is so big that the above the fold area is engulfed totally by it. This makes it look very busy and at first glance, it does not seem there is anything else on that page.
A suggestion would be to reduce the banner size so that the first few lines of content is also seen indicating that there is content below. Otherwise the site looks great. Congratulations on a job well done.
Cheers
Ravi
Thanks for your feedback.
I’ll have to see if it’s even possible to change the banner size on the front page… I guess it is, though, since the theme is very flexible in general.
I also gotta admit that I haven’t even looked at the homepage with different screen sizes. It’s very much BETA, right now, as is the footer area.
Thank you for your suggestions!
Shane,
The new site is okay. A little Plain Jane right now, but I’m sure you’ll fix it up with a cool logo and snazzier fonts and such.
The site name and slogan are pretty decent as well.
I still think IM BATTLEFIELD would have been the one to go with. :)
IM Battlefield- Marketing That Leaves a Mark Like A BattleAxe To The Head!!
Up The Irons
Brian
You should be my right-hand man when it comes to branding.
We’d probably tap into an entirely new market with all the battleaxes, skulls and gore. :D
