Questions and comments about this week’s update are, as always, very welcome!

Cheers,

Please leave a comment below.

Note that I don’t reply to all comments, but I do read them all. If I don’t reply to your comment, it most likely means that I agree with what you say and don’t have anything meaningful to add, myself. I appreciate and read all comments and your comments play an important part in what I write about, so keep them coming.

Spammy comments are always filtered or removed. No surprise there.

  • The Indexer looks much more interesting than I expected Shane. It builds thousands of links to your links and that has me very interested!

Look forward to hearing of your “Throw money at it” project too.

    • Yes, that’s quite cool. Those will be pretty low-value links, of course, but they’re great as a second (or third) layer of link reinforcement.

  • Looking forward to the ‘Throw money at it’ project update. I’m all set to off load my work!

One other thing, last week you mentioned TrafficKaboom. I think I read somewhere that there was going to be a $1 trial some time this week (Warrior Forum post I think). Just thought I would pass it on :)

    Cheers.

    • Thanks for the heads-up! A trial like that would be a great way to test out TK for anyone still on the fence. :)

    • I don’t know how many days that trial will last, but if you signup for 3 months for only $147 you actually test it out for 60 days as it is a clickbank product.

I doubt if the $1 trial will be offered for enough days to get an actual feel to what Traffic Kaboom can do and has to offer.

I am currently reviewing it myself and results will be posted when I get some :)

      Thanks for the tip though.

  • Hey Shane,

Thanks for the info and the coupon code. Looks like another excellent use of SECockpit for us all.

When I get on the sign up page from your link above, then click to signup. I am getting a website security certificate error and I am advised not to click thru…When I do I am I get an ACCESS DENIED, “You don’t have permission to access and some ref no’s etc.

    Cheers,

    Hugh.

    • Oh wow… that’s strange. I just tested all the signup links on the page and I don’t get any warnings or errors.
On the off-chance that it was a glitch, could you try again in a few minutes?

  • Weird, still getting the same thing (IE9) will try with Firefox.

    Cheers,

    Hugh.

  • Hi Shane,

About tracking time – I agree with you that it is very important to do and I would like to recommend a software I have been using to track my working hours and my outsources working hours – Time Doctor.

    http://www.timedoctor.com

It is free to use as it is in beta stage now. It is really great and I love using it and I am sure some might find it very helpful.

About tracking expenses and income, it is something I have been doing from the start and I am glad to say that as the months go by, I am spending less and making more, which is great :)

Really worked on my happy trigger finger and stopped buying stuff I don’t really need :)

I have a spreadsheet that I use to keep all that stuff organized and you gave me an idea about sharing it with others. I will need to work on it a little but i’m sure others could use it also.

Thanks for the great Sunday update.

    • Is Time Doctor similar to RescueTime?
That’s an app I used for a while, a couple of years ago. It was quite interesting, but for me, not as effective as a more manual time tracking approach.

      • No, it is quite different. I also used RescueTime but didn’t really like it.

Time Doctor give me exactly what I need. I know how much time I am working and on what tasks and I also know how much time my outsources are working and on what.

        You should check it out.

      • Ok, cool. I’ll definitely give it a try, then. :)

  • That’s a great tip to keep track of the time spent per site. Quite a niche-idea for creating a software that pulls in data from all income streams (paypal, adsense, clickbank etc) and then you just have to add the invested time/expenses and voila… you have a complete overview. Or does such a software already exist? I would be more than willing to invest into that.

    • There is something like that. StatsRemote gets all your income data from various affiliate programs. However, it doesn’t do anything related to tracking expenses or time investments. There’s also something similar called StatsJunkie, but apparently, it sucks.

      • Thanks, I’ll have a look at them!
So far I use “Putler” to manage my Paypal account, its much faster (than their website) to pull, handle and visualize data over time and even handling Refund requests (altough I’ve never had to use the latter so far :).

      • Interesting! I’d never heard of that before, but I can imagine it’s very nice to have. The PayPal website is very annoyingly slow…

  • Hi Shane,

Have you done a comparison between Backlinks Indexer and Backlink Booster (backlinkbooster.com)?

Appreciate any comparison you may have.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    • Hi Andy,

Here’s the original comparison review I mentioned. Unfortunately, backlinkbooster.com was not part of the roundup.
I used backlinkbooster for a while, but found it excessively complicated to use.

  • When you post results, would like to see a list of the categories you tracked. Thanks in advance.

  • Hey there Shane,

Backlink Indexer looks awesome. I signed up and started using it. I will let you know my results with different types of backlinks.

    Thanks for the coupon.

I have to say, this is much easier than trying to integrate plug ins to do the same thing.

    • Tell me about it… I spent a lot of time setting up Backlinks Energizer (the WP plugin) and ended up with not much of use. I’m not saying it doesn’t work, but the time needed to invest in setting everything up is quite a big hindrance.

  • Got signed up with Firefox.

    Thanks Shane.

    Cheers,

    Hugh.

    • Thanks! Good ‘ol IE… I’ll let the owner of backlinks indexer know about this. Hopefully, it can be fixed.

  • “Good ‘ol IE” – Should have known better…

Shane/Dave…Any thought on possible security issues using Time Doctor as it does look interesting?

Just a bit concerned about desktop software connecting with a server and what could happen with the data being sent to the server. What kind of access the software has to my PC etc.

    Thanks,

    Hugh,

  • Hi Shane,

Just wanted to let you know that Jonathon Leger the guru did a test about 2 months ago and gave Backlinks Indexer a high recommendation. So that’s an outside validation of your recommendation.

Also I’ve been using it for 2 months and it is really easy to work with, just copy, paste, and click Save. Done.

    Best regards,
    Oran

    • Awesome! That’s great to know. Thanks for letting me know. :)

  • Hey Shane,

    Thanks for sharing these videos.

You’re right on point when you mentioned that it’s a good idea to have detailed tracking report for each website.

I followed that to a T, but unfortunately I lost all that information when my PC crashed on me :(

I take full blame though as I should have backed up all my work to an external hard drive or cloned my hard drive with the tool I have.

Lesson to be learned by ALL.

    Cheers,
    Paul

  • Hey Shane,

Thanks for all of the great information. I really love the Sunday update and all of your teachings. Question regarding backlinks. There is mixed opinions regarding linking to a new domain and how many one should setup per day. Is there a limit to the number of backlinks you should do for a new domain . Is there any fear of Google sandboxing your site for too many link submissions which appear spammy

    • Personally, I’ve never had a site sandboxed. I don’t know if there’s an upper limit to how many links you can build to a new site. I can tell you for sure that dozens, hundreds and even thousands of links per day are no problem.
Having said that, when you build thousands of links per day, that’s usually spammy links such as forum profiles. I’ve found those to be pretty much useless lately.

I concentrate on higher quality links now and just build as many as I can, which usually amounts to a few dozen per day, right from the start.

  • Shane,

Is BacklinksIndexer just to get your links indexed or is it also good to give your links a little extra juice. Specific question: BuildMyRank works their own magic to get your links indexed. Would you run these URLs through BacklinksIndexer as well?

    • It definitely also adds some extra juice, but in the case of BMR links, I’m not sure.
Those links are already pretty high quality links, so I don’t know if they’ll benefit from the lower-quality links that BacklinksIndexer would add. The only way to know for sure would be to test it, though.

  • Hey Shane, you recommended the backlinksindexer service.

It looks great but I there is something I don’t get.

If they make 20,000 backlinks to 1500 URLs it means that I only get 1.25 backlinks to each url, it’s not much.

my question is: If I add only 50 URLs instead of 1500, will I get 400 links to each URL? or will it still be only 1.25?

    thanks

    Or Paz

    • It’s actually 13 or 14 backlinks per URL. And I don’t think you get more links per URL if you submit fewer URLs.

      • If I have interpreted this correctly it looks like you can increase the backlinks for the same URL by submitting it more than once if you like. Their distribution looks good so minimal fear of duplication.

This is an extract from their “How It Works” page.
“URLs can be sent through the system as many times as you would like”

It’s a great low cost method of cranking up some lesser quality backlinks. All good.

        Thanks Shane.

  • Just posted my post about why and how you should track time, expenses and income and thought you might want to check it out.

I am also sharing the spreadsheet I am using to track my expenses and income.

    Thank!

  • Shane I purchased backlink indexer and input api in secockpit. Not sure where to go from there. Does it just show me the index backlink or is there a module to add the backlinks from there too?
