And, just for fun, here’s an “ad” for the weekly STEP podcast that I’m doing with Paul McCarthy:

How the STEP Podcast Works:

Step Podcast

(Yes, I’ve seen too many ClickBank make-money sales pages, recently…)

That’s all for this week. Looking forward to your comments and suggestions!

  • Ken Morgan says:

I’d be very interested in a webinar on your particular model of information marketing. I haven’t as yet produced any products but it’s something very much on my mind at the moment. I’ve just got a couple of WSOs on this area. I’ve only done affiliate marketing so far.

  • Hi Shane,

Thanks for the update. Yes I am interested in learning how to make money via Info Marketing, and look forward to your webinar.

    cheers/henry

  • I am very interested in a webinar on info products.

  • Andy Iskandar says:

    Hey Shane,

You are beginning to win my trust more and more. Remember, with great trust comes power… and with power comes responsibility.

In any case, I would love to attend such a webinar. I’m curious as to what business path of not-so-least resistance you are taking.

    Cheers!

    Be More,
    Andy Iskandar

  • Hi Shane!

I really enjoy your weekly video updates, keep them coming!

Yes, I would be very interested in learning how to promote my own products (eBook). I’ve had an eBook written by a professional writer and I’m ready to set up the sale of it on my site, but not sure how? Do I place a link in Aweber, where they access the PDF? I need help on this.

I would also be interested in hearing about your business model.

Thanks again for all your help!

    Clifton

    • That’s a question of the delivery process. Something I happen to have a pretty strong opinion on.

I think I’ll put together a short how-to guide for the delivery process, as this is something I see many marketers get wrong.

      • Shane, a ‘how to’ of the delivery process would be brilliant as I have ideas that could be turned into information products but no idea how I could deliver them to customers. For me, this would have to be an A-Z, assuming no prior knowledge – this would be amazing and EXACTLY what I need, right now.
The other absolutely basic thing I have no idea how to do is build a list and how to keep in contact with everyone through ‘mass’ emailing – pretty fundamental really but I haven’t a clue!

  • Hi Shane,

Yes, I’m interested in learning about your business model and also would welcome your ideas on info marketing. Of course I’d prefer “easy” but that’s what all the so called guru’s are offering isn’t it?

  • Hi Shane,

do that webinar you were talking about. My personal interest: The very practical side. ‘What percentage of your time do you spend on producing videos, writing blog posts, updating products etc. How does a typical work week look like (including Sundays).

    Keep it up.

    Regards, Vanessa

    • Hi Vanessa,
Interesting question! Currently, I’m working on IM related stuff pretty much morning-till-evening.

I don’t intend to keep it this way for the long terms, but right now, it works and I can keep up a good momentum. :)

  • Yes! Info marketing my own products is my main interest, so I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to as well as your thoughts about the best way to position our products.
thanks for all that you’re sharing ;-)

  • Shane,

I’d be really interested in creating and selling info products.

I’ve recently been following Brian Johnsons’s Halloween Super Affiliate program and made some useful cash over the past few months. However, it’s seasonal and is an affiliate model.

I’d really like to get into creating info products (music, personal development, self improvement, hobbies, etc).

Quite like to get away from internet marketing if possible!

    Alan

    • Excellent!
The good thing is: It’s Halloween every year. :)

Good to know that you’re also interested in creating your own products.

  • Hi Shane, yes would be interested to see a webinar with your model. I can always learn a lot from what other do.

I’d also be very interested in your advanced course.

  • I have had my own product on the market for about two years…with less than stellar results. I would be interested in learning how to improve my sales.

  • Hi Shane.

I’m certainly at the stage where I’d like to start making my own info products, so I’m certainly interested.

On another topic, when you say BBP will be unavailable for a “short time”, can you be more specific?

What will be on the sales page during that time? Will referrals still be cookied?

BBP commissions have been very good for me and the conversion rate is extremely good, so I’m keen to keep that going.

    Peter

    • Good that you bring it up.

I’ll make sure that all affiliate referrals get credited. When BBP is offline, the aff-link will go to a sign-up page and the leads will still be cookied. I’m going to be providing you with new aff-links as soon as possible and while I know that a switch like this is bothersome, it’s going to be worth it. The new setup will kick all kinds of ass, for my affiliates. :)

By the way: Did you receive the affiliate update e-mail about a week ago?

  • Hi Shane,
Great, yes I would love to discuss Info Marketing with you and learning about your business model. I sell a £xxx info product online, but am in a niche (B2B quality management) where it’s not ‘all about the list’ – something that many IM marketers harp on and on about. Email marketing is not the correct solution (my background is in CRM) for my prospects and customers, but a part of it.
I look forward to a webminar about this subject!
    Justin

    • Interesting. I can’t say I have experience in with this kind of a model. I’d be interested to know how much of what I do could be carried over, though.

  • Hi Shane,

Yes – I’ve been working on my own info product – a series of DIY how to videos – for around 4 months.

I had planned to get it done in a few weeks, its tough trying to tie all the aspects of it together; product, marketing, distribution etc.. Perhaps thats the USP of the recent launches from messers kajabi & FushionHQ.

I would really appreciate a webinar on the subject(from yourself), perhaps one which would look at pros and cons of the various info product monetizing models i.e. ebook / membership site / fixed term membership site etc.

Thanks for all the great reviews & guidance so far

p.s you look a little off colour in todays video – stressed out ? over / underworked ?

anyways take care & keep the great advice coming!

    Dan

    • Yep, that’s what systems like FusionHQ are all about. Quite frankly, good product delivery and payment processing can be a real headache.

I have some red patches on my face today, because I was training with some mates. Mixed martial arts. Can get a little rough, sometimes. :)

  • Hi Shane,
I would be interested in own product marketing however, I am just starting out and product creation is a bit daunting and would prefer starting off with other people’s products first to learn the ropes. Perhaps start us off with some good affiliate basics first and then progress on the product creation- that way there is something for everyone.
    Thanks.

  • Hi Shane

Yep I’d like to hear your business model even tho’,as you say, it ain’t for everybody

In particular, the sticking point is product creation. I’ve done it and it’s a ton of work and complexity I’d like to do without

Thanks for making your videos downloadable, I can’t hear the audio otherwise.

    All The Best

    Alex

    • Weird, with the audio issue. Seems to be the case for a small percentage of readers.

      Guess it’s support-ticket time. :)

  • Hi Shane,

Answering your question about info marketing interest … yes, this is definitely part of my plan!

Quick questions re: two things …

Backlink Battleplan … will the update/upgrade include changes to the affiliate tools that are pretty much focused on the launch? I am working on a site where I would love to first refer people to the free tools and ultimately to BLBP and would like to maintain or establish the affiliate cookie for it (or am I missing a point somewhere) …

Link Liberation 2.0 … beyond the marketing popcorn, will there be a formal review later (especially since they may be casting a shadow over some of the methods used in BLBP)?

Thanks as always for the effort and content …

    Jim

    • Hi Jim,

Answers: YES. It’s high time I updated the aff tools. Although it might be a little while before I have my now, fully tricked out uber-affliate-resource-site ready. But you’ll get new links and new info as soon as possible.
And the new setup will be VERY supportive of your approach (promoting free stuff first).

Link Liberation: Not much point in reviewing it, I’d say. They’re only gonna leave the cart open for a few days and often, content isn’t even delivered before the cart closes.

If they really have some game-changing stuff in there, then I’ll have to adapt and adjust.

But above all else, keep in mind that the BBP style link building works. Period. As I said in the popcorn video: They’re pretending that “all that stuff” doesn’t work, but I have a bunch of #1 rankings that say otherwise.

  • Yup….ditto

I have a site that publishes and sells quality health e-books (Known as The ‘What Is’) series but sell very few.

    What is a Migraine?
What is Depression?….that sort of theme

The buyers of those that do sell very often compliment me on them and all books were constructed by Doctors or qualified medical researchers.

Maybe your webinar will show where I’ve gone wrong….maybe too cheap at $7.97 thereby giving a false perception??

You can even listen to Chopin while you’re reading the home page which offers you links to a detailed description of just about all vitamins and herbs.

I look forward to hearing about when this webinar will be (;-) after which you can claim to have known me when I had nothing.

    Peter

  • Yes please cover info marketing product creation and your business model.

It would be nice to go from affiliate to vendor!

    Thanks Shane

  • Shane

    Thanks for another great video.

I am very much interested in hearing you discuss information marketing in a webinar. I purchased Backlink Battleplan and its far and away the best product I have purchased online and has really delivered for me and I think represents the quality of your output.

I am principally a physical product affiliate marketer and I would like to expand into information products.

I am interested in your thoughts on creating and marketing information products OUTSIDE of the internet marketing niche

    all the best

    Tom

    • Concerning outside the IM niche: I’ve only had success in two niches (as a vendor) so far, one of them being IM.

But I’ll be expanding into one, probably two new markets next year and I’ll be sharing what I do there as case studies.

Also: Thank you very much for your comments concerning BBP. Glad you like it. :)

  • Hi Shane,

I love the Sunday updates..as always..

I would love to attend the webinar, it sounds like it could really help alot of people along with their business.

Also i would be very interested in building my own product, however it would be more about the packaging, marketing and distribution of it. I think this is where i would need most help.

On another point regarding BBP, i would also love to see a video in which you show YOUR backlinking procedures. By this i mean a video in which you also show the premium tools you use on a daily basis and find the most benefit from. This as well as how you actually use them to maximise the benefits from them. This way we can also decide if we would also benefit from using them as well as being able to purchase them through your affiliate links. Win Win..

    Keep the updates coming..

    Chris.

    Chris.

    • Concerning my own link building strategy (which is like BBP plus a bunch of paid tools and services), I’m working on improving that to the point where it’s highly effective and involves almost no work on my part. Once I’ve got a working, proven system running, I will be making another product showing exactly what this system is.

Right now, I’m still very much in the testing phase.

  • Hi Shane,

I’ve got my own infoproducts since 7 or 8 years now. For the Dutch and English self help market, focussed at mental issues.

For the Dutch marktet I’ve started to differentiate my products; no one answer to all problems, but for a specific issue a specific info product. Product creation is no problem. I do expand my current Dutch language product. For English market I outsourched everything. Only came up with a draft for the info product.
I’m also expanding to the off line market. My first (real) book in print will be finished within 2 weeks.
I’m trying to figur out if I’m going to offer video as well. I’m not completely sure about this. I’ll have to ask to my list I think;)

So I would like to learn how to set up a video product as fast and easy as possible.

    Cheers,
    Jan

    • Cool stuff! Having a print-book will be great for expanding your market, I bet.

Yep, video is also a subject I get asked about a lot.

Well, at least I won’t run out of content I need to create, anytime soon. :)

  • Creating and info product would be very interesting…and time consuming so it would have to be very organized to make it doable and efficient. Time is the commodity that is in short supply on this end.

Next it would be very important to create an info product with a true market, otherwise it is a waste of life so niche research is paramount. Now how to sort out the quality niche that has a hope in he** of succeeding is another story. Perhaps you have some major inputs on this.
    Clarence

  • I will for sure be interested.
I´m about to launch my first info product and all I’m sure I can learn something new from you.

  • yes I would love to see your webinar on creating products and your business plan. I am actually in the middle of creating a product to throw on fiverr and eBay.

This is my attempt to create some quick cash. I would be interested in seeing your take on creating quick cash whether sustainable or not.

  • Hi Shane!

Yes, I would be very interested to find out how I could turn into a vendor myself.
Still, creating and marketing my very own product seems to be a “pink cloud” or actually non-achievable, but I am sure there are ways to do it and to have even some success.

  • Hi Shane,

Yes, I’d be interested in learning more about developing and setting up sales funnels for info products. I have a pretty good idea of how to do it already, but I get overwhelmed when it comes to setting up the sales process and offering stuff on the backend, upsells, downsells, cross sells, etc. I’ve got a ton of experience doing this offline, but the thought of getting it all set up online makes my head spin.

Anyway, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to know what you use for a shopping cart service, why you use it over other services, how to set up the systems mentioned above, etc.

    Thanks,

    Joe

  • Hey Shane,

What I think about your upcoming webinar? Awesome! I´ll be on it. 100%

I love the concept of digital information marketing – At least the concept of it that I have :)

I´ve got the fealing that you are heading in a very similar direction. Just like Sam and Paul and a bunch of other cool people. So, yeah! Bring it on. As soon as possible!

And again: Your productivity on such a high level of quality is amazing, Shane. I want to learn how to become that productive from you.

Great idea with the comment policy box!

    Talk soon, Mirko

  • Hi Shane.

Love the take on the Clickbank product under the video, great Sunday update as always

Count me in for a Webinar when you do one, I think to get your take on product delivery and presentation would be valuable, it’s difficult putting all the bits together in a professional looking way

    • Yay, someone mentioned the Clickbank joke! :D

      Thanks, Tony.

  • Hi Shane,

You’re starting to become one of my favorite IMers! :)

I just purchased BBP and I’m eager to get started and see if it can drive results for me! Thank you for putting it together. I’m also now curious as to what updates you have in store for us.

I would be interested in learning more about your business plan since I personally learn the best by modeling what others do successfully.

  • Hi Shane

Many thanks, again for sharing and the way you work and how you run your business would be of much interest. I’d love to know how much is planned in your ‘Building Relationships’ and the art of ‘Giving Quality First’ or whether it’s simply down to the individual’s nature.

What I mean is, it has seemed you have so naturally gained my trust over the time I have been following you, and you do it so well I can’t help thinking it’s mainly YOU and down to the genuine interest you have in other people’s success.

I did want to ask about people’s choice of niche and why almost everyone goes for a blog on ‘Teaching Internet Marketing’ yet we all start out knowing nothing, therefore how do we start teaching something we know little about? and in fact a blog on teaching the very thing we are also starting to learn.

A bit of a chicken and egg scenario..

    Thanks for reading Shane
    Steve

    • That’s a good point.
I think it makes sense to start a blog about something you’re only just learning about. Of course, you don’t want to pretend that you’re already successful at it and it’s a very bad idea to create a blog about IM and leave that as the only site and only income stream.

I have to say that it took me a long time to get my head around niche selection.

      • Hi Shane
Wouldn’t a blog from someone who is just starting to learn IM, NOT go down very well with readers and in fact the newbie couldn’t have much of value to say??

        Cheers
        Steve

      • I don’t see it that way.
As an IM newbie with an IM blog, simply report on what you do and what you’re learning.

I don’t recommend trying to “fake it till you make it”, instead be upfront and honest and say “here, I document my IM journey”.

There are several blog like that. An example that comes to mind is Experiments in Passive Income.
If I recall correctly, Moon started this blog pretty much right when he started with IM. It’s nothing but quality. :)

The same goes for any other niche. Don’t try to come across as the golfing expert, if you’re only just starting. Be honest about it and it gives you an opportunity to connect with a different demographic (namely people who are “just like you”).

  • Hi Shane,

It’s ok if you can’t reply to every message actually if you did I’d be wondering why you don’t have anything better to do with your time :P. If you look into into a lot of Guru launches, I’ve seen hundreds of comments on their videos without a reply in sight.

Yes Would love to be a part of the webinar or at least have access to it (bad time difference) I’ve been wondering what your business model has been for a while – I know it would be hardcore lol

Btw what does the writing on the back wall mean?

    Samith

    • The chinese characters are supposed to say “peaceful warrior”. But who knows? Might be something like “hot chili sauce”, for all I know.

  • Info marketing sounds good. That seems to the new direction affiliate marketing is headed these days so I definitely look forward to hearing your version of it.

  • Norman Holden says:

    G’day Shane ,

Have had BBBP for a while now and have just decided it’s time to give it a workout on one of my more recent sites and then I find out you are planning a major update! It’s the story of my life when it comes to trying to succeed on the internet – but I won’t bore anyone with the details as they are probably as common as noses on faces.

What is your anticipated delivery of the BBBP update and should I wait or just go ahead with what I have got at the moment.

Also appreciated the Clickbank take — how very true!

    Thanks again and Cheers ,

    Norman Holden

    • Don’t wait for the update.

Get into it and then you’ll be able to easily adapt once the updates come around.

  • Hi Shane

Everyone, it seems, is looking for someone else to create for them a magical product that will generate an income without too much time and effort. But the fact of the matter is, as good as some of these products are, they all require not only action (meaning getting started), but follow-through too, and it’s this failure to follow-through that is the reason the majority of IM wannabes never make the grade.

So what’s missing? The answer is simple. It’s lack of inspiration! A product, service, or even a simple set of instructions, no matter how effective they might be if completed, usually don’t won’t get used unless they can inspire the users and excite them to keep on going.

And just to finish on ;-)

Of 100 people who start with a plan today, 80 will drop out within 6 months.
Of the 20 left, 16 will drop out within the next 6 months.
Of the 4 left, only 1 will still be at it 6 months later.
    Be that 1.

    Andy

    • It’s true, no matter how good or effective a product is, there will always be a large “drop-off” rate.

I’ve seen this in many contexts, not just IM products.

  • Shane,
Yes I would love to know what you do to earn a living online. And I would very much like to know how to do it as easily and quickly as possible to get some kind of money coming in. I actually thought about emailing you asking those exact questions, but I know you’re busy and that seems kind of rude to do that so I refrained.

And yes I think a webinar like that, “from you”, would be very beneficial to those of us, like me, who aren’t making any money yet. At least if it comes from you I know we will get solid usable information instead of a hyped up “here’s why you need to buy this product from me NOW” PITCHATHON. I’m so sick of those that I have pretty much quit attending webinars lately.

    Looking forward to what’s coming,
    Brian

  • Hi Shane

bought your Backlink Battleplan and would luv to know the process you went through or the system you use to determine what to include, how to know what to research etc to come up with a great product such as this.

I’ve made several info products myself and do strive for perfection (I know – a big mistake!) so I’m keen to know how?

    Regards

PS – BBP is good, very good!

  • Wayne Cochrane says:

    Hello Shane,

Yes, selling my own information products is exactly what I am interested in.

I am also very interested in information about your business model. (I have already signed up for the webinar.)

    Thanks!

    Wayne.

  • I have always shyed away from creating info products because I don’t feel there is any one thing I am particularly expert in and would charge for. I don’t want to con anyone and feel I would be quickly caught out!

I know when teaching kids you only need to be one page ahead but when someone is buying into you and trust is involved then I am uneasy with that.

I will be interested to here what you have planned.

    • That’s an interesting point. Often, you don’t need to be an expert yourself to make a good product.
I have one such product in the works. Wish it was already finished, so I could show you exactly what I mean.

Also check out the two last videos in this “how to create a freebie” series for an example.
