The story goes that if you work hard, you'll eventually get rewarded. If you just put in the effort and stick with it through the hard times, it will pay off, right?
Well... maybe.
Unfortunately, for many of us, that "sticking with it" part seems to drag on forever and the paying off part is nowhere to be seen.
Sure, maybe your problem is primarily procrastination, but maybe you follow this simple formula or have found some other way to beat procrastination and you really do put in the time and effort.
And yet, still no success in sight.
If this describes you, then maybe you've been stubborn about the wrong things.
The Missing Ingredient
I've recently published many posts in which I looked at some of the biggest obstacles that keep entrepreneurs from success and tried to break them down into the shortest, most actionable solutions possible.
For example: this dead-simple way to finally prioritize what really matters.
Comments here on the blog and inside my productivity course have been invaluable in helping me understand where you're getting stuck and how I might be able to help.
And that brings me to today's video.
Through the discussions I've had, I've come to what I think could be the missing ingredient for many people. But it's something that's difficult to break down into simple steps. It's fuzzy, if you will.
What I'm talking about ultimately comes down to developing self awareness.
I strongly believe that an entrepreneur's character has a profound influence on their business. And that we project both our strengths and our shortcomings onto our businesses.
And so, developing a successful business has a lot to do with developing ourselves. With growing entrepreneurship, leadership, strategic thinking, communication and productivity skills.
How can we hope to do any of this effectively, without self-awareness?
In short, I propose that self-awareness many be the missing ingredient to your success. Not just any level of self-awareness, mind you. I mean self-awareness deliberately and specifically cultivated to help you think more clearly about your situation and your actions. Self-awareness as a practiced skill, that helps you course correct along the way.
Watch the video to see 1 simple habit I recommend, for developing this skill.
And leave a comment, to let me know what you think!
