  • Shane,

I think I heard you say the word “amazing” about 100 times in this video…and if it were a “normal” Internet marketer I would construe it as hype. That being said, after being able to actually USE this plugin on my own website for a sales page, I can say that you should have used “amazing” 100 more times..it’s just THAT good.

Let’s schedule an interview soon as I want to share this tool with my audience ASAP.

    Great job!

    Mike

    • Haha, I knew someone would call me out on that! :)

I noticed that about the video as well. I was pretty exhausted and in a hurry to complete the video. I usually pay more attention to my wording. That said, I really was amazed by everything that unfolded in the last few days, so it’s not insincere. :)

  • The video had a feature that I have seen recently in several places — use of “side shots” mixed in to the video at seemingly random places — without looking at the camera in those side-shots. I’m suddenly seeing it in several places, which leads me to conclude that it is a trend — and that there must be some compelling reason for using that technique.

BTW, although I have seen some freebie editors that would be much better than the built-in WP editor, I went ahead and bought yours. The price was quite reasonable, and my experience with buying stuff from you has been good in the past.

    • Kris Phelps says:

      Hey Howard,

It makes the video more interesting to watch. There are lots of studies that show you can hold peoples’ attention better with cuts to other angles. TV news has been using the technique for decades.

You’re probably seeing it a lot in more videos because cameras have become so affordable. I’ve been seeing it a lot more too. Have an awesome weekend!

      Thanks,
      Kris

      • Kris Phelps says:

Hmm, I just finished the video and didn’t see any of those shots that you were talking about Howard.

      • The side shots are pretty early on in the sales video, Kris

      • Kris Phelps says:

        Thanks Paul,

I didn’t realize he was talking about the sales video specifically. Appreciate that clarification :-).

    • Those are just b-roll shots and they are mainly used for two things:
      1) Just mixing up the video, so there’s less time spent on the same angle.
      2) Hiding edits in the video.

I don’t think it’s a current trend. Some form of b-roll for hiding edits have been used forever. :)

  • Hey Shane,

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about your Internet going out and getting hacked! I’m glad you were able to bounce back. That might be a post idea, how to bounce back after being hacked and how to prepare for it.

I notice a lot of your business philosophies fall in-line with the philosophies of “The Lean Startup”, have you ever read it? Have a great weekend. I love the new plugin.

    Thanks,
    Kris

    • Hi Kris,

Your answer above is spot on (about the side shots in the video).

I have written about securing sites, both for making getting hacked less likely and also for limiting the damage and data loss in case it does happen. Here’s the post.

I have read the Lean Startup and it’s a must-read for entrepreneurs, IMO.

  • Karim Alinani says:

Shane, it was really helpful to me… I am also a sort of perfectionist and if i am not satisfied, i don’t prefer to get it out… This video really supports the idea of launch for a smaller audience, learn from feedback, rinse, improve and re-launch with bigger audience and social proof….

Thank you so much, i would say its the right video at the right time… as my launch is very near…

    All the best (Y)….

    Karim

    • That’s good to hear. I know the feeling very well, of course. Good luck with your launch!

  • Hey guys…..up to now I’ve been using the plugin Ultimate TinyMCE and so often I wanted to write to the people that supply it in anger…..I won’t bore you as to why.

Based on what I saw in your video I’m looking forward to removing the bl***y TinyMCE thing and replacing it with yours and work on in peace and serenity.

Hopefully I won’t need to write to you in anger (;-)

    Peter

    • I hope we won’t get angry emails from you, Peter. But I think you’ll be very happy with the Content Builder, compared to TinyMCE, which I agree can be quite enraging at times.

  • Thank you.. Great way of putting things into perspective. The product is awesome and I can see how big the potential is for it. I have a few of your products and I know you value quality.

Had to snatch it up early!

    Greg Jr.

    • Thank you, Greg! Great to hear that you like the plugin. :)

  • Hi Shane,

The way these challenges line up, in the order that they do, often seems like some kind of conspiracy, nothing can be done about it, but, hey, onward and upward is the only way.

    Bought it.
    Using it.
Loving it. (I know I will soon be saying “goodbye instabuilder, you don’t quite cut the mustard”).
I know it’s gonna get better.

    Best regards

    Gary

    • Thank you for the reply, Gary! Love that you’re loving it. :)

  • Hi Shane,

Firstly thank you for sharing your dramas. Perfectionism is my middle name and I have been “trying” to get my new plan rolling, but nothing seemed right. Now I am just going to “do it!”

I bought OptimizePress in their latest launch but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. So my home page was still blank.

I decided to buy your plugin yesterday after saying to myself, “Self…you bought OptimizePress as every marketer swore by it…and you haven’t even used it yet. Do you really need it? Maybe not…but this is Shane’s plugin…Hybrid Connect is awesome…WP Sharely is awesome…just get it! :P”

Now I am glad I did! Within two hours of buying your plugin…my home page is how I want! (I have to create a video…but hey you just told me on this page to do it…and I will!

Thank you Shane for helping my “businesses” more than you know.

    • That’s so nice to hear! Thank you Susan. I’m really happy that the plugin helped you finally get the result you’d been looking for.

  • Hi Shane,

You should know about Mercury Retrograde – it will help you avoid those issues you had next time – look it up :) Kate

  • Integrity! You practice what you preach. You’re honest and straight forward. We trust you. And THAT is why your new plugin is flying off the shelves (in addition to the fact that you hit a very emotional gap in the market – something we all desperately want). Keep up the great work, Shane. But get some sleep first.

Danke!

      • Alles in Thrive Content Builder ist komplett responsive. :)

  • Hi Shane,
As always, a great message to be learnt in what you say. I have not had a chance to use your new plugin yet, but looking at it, I know it will be great.
I also love your email, its layout and simplicity makes it a joy to look at and read. I find myself deleting so many emails without even reading them now, just based on what they look like and how long they are.
I also enjoy watching your video, I blow it up to full screen and you have my full attention.
    Keep up the good work

    • Thank you very much, Anton! Glad you like the email template I use, too. :)

  • Hi Shane,
Can your plugin be used on website builders like Catalyst / Genesis?

    Great plugin!

    Warren

    • It definitely works with Genesis, yes. Not sure about Catalyst. As far as I know, that doesn’t exist as a standalone product anymore.

      • Catalyst is part of Genesis some how currently, if the plugin doesnt work can i get a refund?

        Thanks

      • Michael Eccles says:

        Hey Warren ….

If it works with Genesis, and Catalyst is part of Genesis, then it should work. If it doesn’t then let Shane know through the Support System, and he and Paul will get it fixed!

On the refund side, if you don’t have time to give them a break, then send me your bank details and I’ll give you a refund!

        Michael

      • I use Catalyst and now Genesis. Catalyst is not part of Genesis, however, you can add the Dynamik Website Builder plugin and the Genesis Extender Plugin (both from the same Catalyst team) to create Genesis Child themes. The thing is those plugins are more about the layout of the whole page and what you do to the template, whereas, Thrive Content Builder is about content presentation.

In theory Thrive Content Builder should work with either of the above plugins but obviously some testing would be required, this is something I plan to do in next day or two once I have bought Thrive Content Builder.

Like you Shane, I tried many WP editors and still keeping a look out, not so much for my own benefit, I can get by with html and css, but I wanted to make it easy for my clients to easily add their own content. None of the editors were suitable, but now I think my search is over.

What I see so far is most excellent and I’m sure you will have even better features in future releases.

        Thank you for this

        Lee

      • correction – Dynamik Website Builder is a Genesis Child Theme you can customize till the cows come home! it’s not a plugin as I stated above.

        Lee

  • Hi Shane,

Using the plugin in OptimizePress, perhaps I drank too much coffee and my hand is a jittery mess, but the drag and drop functionality seems a bit….(what is the word)…sensitive/skitish??? ;-)

    Cheers,
    Phil

P.S. Really appreciate the hype free presentation of your products by the way

  • I was wondering whether this works with optimize press? Thanks

  • I went to purchase your plugin and it says it is not available anymore. I thought that you were going to send a email out to the list before you stopped the offer. The last email that I received from you was on the 4th, did i miss one. Thanks Cliff

  • Hi Shane,

I have submitted a request for support, because I keep having real serious issues with this plugin.

Although I have even submitted my Wp login info (upon request from a support member), I haven’t heard back from him, and that is about one week ago now.

I would like to know if I can keep working with this plugin, after the bugs have been solved, or that I have to deactivate it for now.

Also I asked where I can find the update you have been talking about, with the new features, but I got no answer to this question eighter.

So please get back to me.

    Thanks. David

    • Hi David – one of our support staff members is in the Philippines and has had trouble with the recent floods, hence we are slightly behind with support. I’m working through them as fast as possible and We will get to your ticket, apologies for the delay.

You can update automatically from the dashboard. This is all documented in the members area – http://members.thrivethemes.com/changelog/ – (“How to update your plugin”)

      • David Sorensen says:

OK, I understand this. I also haver friends in the Philippines , who work there as christian missionaries, helping child prostitutes. Terrible situation. Is he OK?

Thanks for the link for update info. Of course I did try to update form the admin panel, but it didn’t give any update, hence my question.

        Thanks.

  • David Sorensen says:

Got the update now. Will keep you posted if issues are solved.
