Personally I love a challenge – so much so that in the absence of one, I’ll find a way to create my own challenge.
Certainly no shortage of ‘challenges’ if your business is built around the internet & online marketing!
Too true. I sometimes struggle finding the balance between good challenge and complete overwhelm.
I do have a tendency to bite off a lot more than I can chew…

I found the challenge really useful for me as I find it’s quite easy to get distracted or lose motivation when you work at home.
The other advantage of the challenge is that it “forced” me to release my tool before I’d completed absolutely everything. Quite often I hold off releasing something until it is 100% complete, when I would have been better releasing/publishing it with the core in place and then adding the tweaks/additional content later on.
Anyway, I was very pleased with what I achieved with my tool called “Redirect Detective” at http://redirectdetective.com/
I’m doing a few tweaks on the cosmetics and have a bunch of articles that I’m currently writing, but the main functionality of site is all there.

First and foremost, the site is intended to be a useful resource. I haven’t specifically made it with the intention of making money from it
That said, once it gains some traction, I might put some unobtrusive ads/affiliate links on there.

Sorry to report that I failed in my quest.
Had to turn down my daughter’s offer of a place to stay because it did not meet the ‘quiet’ requirement. I love my grandkids but I can’t live with them. LOL
Maybe I’m too much of a perfectionist but I haven’t given up.
I don’t mean to complain but for me, quitting is a major hurdle, as I am dealing with the effects (both physical and monetary) of a stroke. Makes life so hard.

Although I did not post any, I committed myself to a challente : updating the FB page and the front page of one of my websites http://www.agence-redaction-web.fr according to some optimizations hints I got from Visual Website Optimizer. The result is not bad, need to get more work for inner pages, but during the week I managed to write 7 posts. Okay, that’s including translations from blog posts in English (the website is in French) but it was really some work, and I see the results in terms of SEO : + 65% unique visitors in one week. On my way to becoming the premier copywriting website for the french market !
BTW it would be interesting to have your take about Blackhat, I wrote a post today about that and was checking Rand Fishkin’s post of 2011 about this, but also some blackhat SEOs website, and it’s really interesting to see such a huge difference in ways of seeing things.
You said you are tempted to give in to excuses. Well i am NEVER tempted tempted to give in to excuses, in fact…. oh hang on… i’ll have to get around to telling you later, my favorite tv show is just about to start. :-)

My personal challenge was to everything to get an almost passive Fiverr seller site up. That included making a video, writing a 12 page pdf and all the copywriting and email scripts. Yes I made it. Now I’ll tweak it.
Seemed an awful lot of work just for a Fiverr site but it is easy money now. And yes, I have had sales through it.
