Glad to hear that you are updating the BBP. I noticed that some of the services you covered were defunct (or very different), and I was hoping you’d do that.
You are shooting yourself in the foot by telling new customers for BBP to wait, though — better to have a special deal/blowout of the “obsolete” version with favored update status when the new one comes out.
…which I hope I get (favored update status, that is) as a BBP customer.
Existing customers get the update for free. Even though I’m re-doing the entire thing and it would certainly be smarter and more profitable to sell it as a new product, I won’t do that. :)
I purchased Backlink Battleplan a few weeks ago. So I just want to thank you Shane for not selling this as a new product. I look forward in becoming your customer for life. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Vivian!
Hey Shane,
You still haven’t got the hang of this Internet Marketing thing yet, have you? The idea is to re-hash the old content and give it a new, sexier name, then re-release it as a new product!
To help you along, I even came up with a new name for it – how about “Backlink Battleplan 2 – The Empire Strikes Back”? :-)
BTW, you were right – black t-shirt on black background makes you look more like a pasty-faced Pom than a Swiss Irishman – not a good look. :-)
Terry
Hi Terry,
I think the real “guru” way of doing it is to actually only change the name and just re-sell the same old thing as a new product.
Hi Shane,
all the best for the upcoming launch and I also look forward to the BBP update. I have a quick question though: Weren’t you going to release a course on list building? Did you drop these plans? If so, have you come across a course during your research that you can really recommend?
Regards, finobz
PS: I liked your report and also the one by Andy Williams. Would love to read more on that.
Thanks!
List building is still on the list, so to speak.
I originally wanted to make a report about just the stuff that I already know about list-building, things I’ve done etc. but I decided that wouldn’t be good enough. I have searched far and wide for a really good list-building course, but have not found one. Most of them seem way too basic.
I have now come up with several novel concepts that I will experiment with and hope to then be able to present a list-building course that is truly innovative. Plus, I’m developing some software for that purpose as well.
Bottom line: it will take a while till all this is done, but it will (hopefully) be worth the wait. :)
what I really need to know more about is best utilizing my list – I promote in a physical product niche and have many sites – and have build up a list over 1000 which I am not using anywhere near how I could because I am scared of using it the wrong way…
any pointers Shane on good courses addressing that topic?
Also just to note, I have been using secockpit for a month now and it has grown on me a lot! there is a new project i am involved in as an seo consultant and the kind of extensive research I am going to be providing basically wouldn’t even be possible without the tool… so kudos on everything so far, its great
Awesome, glad to hear it!
As for email marketing: what I can tell you is that the way you set up expectations and the way you communicate with new subscribers has a huge impact. I use an autoresponder that is only one out of two (I think) that is capable of doing “dynamic follow up”, meaning it can send different messages to people, depending on how they react (whether they open the emails, whether the buy a product or not etc.).
Most autoresponders can’t do this and when talking to the owners of autoresponder companies, I’ve found that most can’t even imagine what the point of this would be. The truth is that it can make a huge difference. I have an example of a sequence where dynamic follow-up increased the responsiveness of a list by a factor of five.
I have never seen a single course that teaches anything like this. It’s one of the things that are just “too complicated” for the IM market, I think. I.e. it’s complex and can’t be sold as a quick-and-easy solution, so no one bothers.
As for list-building (which is a separate topic from email marketing): I’ve found courses on this topic to be far too generic and the advice in them ranges from unimaginative to downright bad.
A possible exception to all this is a course called Auto Responder Madness by Andre Chaperone.
I too am looking forward to the updated BBP.
The SECockpit pre-launch videos and PDF are good. I’m at the point where I’ve figured out most of what you cover in those, but you do have a gift for presenting it in a very concise, organized and logical way so it’s a good refresher for me on what is important to remember (out of all the cr*p floating around in my head).
Sorry, I can see the t-shirt – – the “floating head” might have been cool!
Thanks, Garth.
I’ll wear a darker t-shirt, next time. ;)
Yeah Shane looking forward to the update of BBP…… Keep the great content coming
Thanks, Darrell!
Thanks for the information Shane – I’ll look forward to the update as I’ve found BLBP extremely useful.
I’d noticed that some of the tools had changed over the months but had found other ways round the outdated parts.
Thanks, Bill!
I’m glad to say that I’ve found superior replacements for almost all of the “missing parts” in the current BBP. :)
Yeah the floating head might be cool and move left, right, up and down to make it more spooky … might be nice for Halloween!
Thanks for the good information and I agree on the two sites you recommended, I have visited them.
Fran
Ok, I think I’ll also add some white gloves and a long-sleeved black shirt. :D
Thanks for the scary video Shane – nothing like it on a quiet Sunday…
Thank you heaps for updating BBP!!
I wonder if you can provide options in it? You’ve pretty much stuck to free services and that’s good – but sometimes a paid service can result in a simplified process and I really like simple!!
Off now to check the new resources
:-)
Hi Alex,
Yes, options are one of the things I want to add. The focus of the current BBP is on all “free and automatic” tools. That’s pretty cool, but also pretty limiting.
I do want to keep the focus on “free”, but I will add some good manual link building methods, plus I’ll make at least one bonus video about paid tools and services.
Many thanks for the (floating) heads up on the marketing blogs. Really interesting stuff.
Good luck with the product launch.
Thanks, Graham!
Loved the floating head, Shane! Could you please wear a black turtleneck for the full effect next time? ;)
I see the floating head effect is a lot more popular than I anticipated. :D
Also: Hello Jolenta! Long time no see!
P.S. Can’t wait for the BPP update!!
Hi Shane. Love the new look. Agree with Jolenta though – black turtle neck would be very cool. Maybe get one of those green screens and do things properly :)
Love BBBP and look forward to new updates.
Thanks, Andy!
Next time I move, I definitely want a separate “studio” room including green-screens and all those bells and whistles. I’m sure I’ll be indulging in some tacky effects now and then, when I have such a setup. :D
Are you offering the updated version of BBP to existing customers for free, or will it be a paid upgrade?
Free upgrade, as usual. :)
Hi Shane
For some reason the new look reminded me of Holly in the great BBC comedy series
Red Dwarf
Look forward to the BBP update
Thanks for the link, Rich!
I wasn’t familiar with the series, but the trailer looks very promising. :)
Hey Shane, one more thing. Will the updated version of BBP keep us Mac users in mind? Would be so helpful to know whether apps are Mac compatible or not. I kind of gave up on the program when I couldn’t get things running on my Mac and found I had to start maintaining my PC all over again (which was the whole reason I dumped my PC). Thanks!
Good question.
I think there are no more windows-only programs involved, but I’ll have to check.
Hi Shane,
Great news about BBP and I am really pleased to hear that you are doing a new pdf first – that will be extremely useful.
Thanks for the links and a big thank you for the Rich Content pdf too.
All the best with SECockpit
Oh and about the ‘floating head’, your UK followers (of a certain age), will know that it worked brilliantly for Holly in “RED DWARF”!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpkKVJk732c will give you a clue – although you are much better looking than Holly!!)
Haha, second Red Dwarf reference!
I’ll make sure to add some lighting from the top next time. :D
Hi Shane, I found myself spending a lot of time examining your site and your ways. I am unsubscribing from most of the guru’s that used to send me 100 emails each day. I look forward receiving your emails, as you always have the substance, to the point, and no BS attached.Thank you.
Thank you, Michael!
I’m happy to learn that I passed your filter. :)
Hi Shane,
Good stuff yet again. Always worthwhile catching up with what you’re up to. News about BBP update is great. Looking forward to it. Would it be too cheeky of me to ask if the update will cover everything Jason Keith looks at in his WSO: Ultimate Link Building Blackbook?
Regards,
Dean
Thanks, Dean.
I’m not familiar with the product you mentioned, so I don’t know.
What I can say is that the new BBP will, just like the current one, be more than just a collection of link-building methods and tips. It will be a complete, step-by-step strategy. I think that’s what really sets the product apart from others.
Keep up the good work Shane I am sure the results will be as fabulous as ever. As you know I was a Synnd customer for a while but was disappointed that much of what they promised to do seemed to be still in the developmental stage although they promoted it as a complete system.
A think their concept will be great once (if) they get it working right. I will be interested to see your thoughts. At least it seems to be a fairly novel concept.
Looking forward to the BBP update
GJ
Hi Gordon. The Synnd experience has not changed much, it seems… The concept is indeed promising but the execution is lacking.
Hi Shane,
A few months back, you mentioned that you were looking into creating an automatic BBP type program. Not sure if you were referring to software program or webbase program, but are you still considering this?
Thanks,
Clifton
Hello Clifton,
Yes, that’s a product that I’ve been working on, on-and-off, for a long time. I’m still not happy with the overall strategy. I still plan to release something like that, once I feel I have a really good product to deliver.
Shane,
Good to know about the upcoming updated BBP blueprint.
But what about people who love automation (and only want hands off linkbuilding) that prefer to use SEnukeX?
At the end of the day, which is more powerful? SEnukeX or BBP?
Also want to let you know that I totally dig SocialTriggers.
Thanks again.
SEnuke X does a lot of the steps we do in BBP, so you can use it to automate them. But there are also many steps in BBP that aren’t emulated by any automation tools, so a combination of both would probably be most effective.
I personally use automation tools as well, but there are still link-building methods I use that simply no tool does for me.
Hi Shane, really looking forward to the upgrade to BBP and thanks for keeping it up to date as services etc. change. Could you give me your views on “Voltrank”. It’s come across my computer screen a few times now and I’m not sure if it’s worthwhile giving it a try.
Also, you recommend Unique Article Wizard, but I can’t find that you’ve actually reviewed it. Have you used it? Thoughts?
Hello Jacquie,
Voltrank is new to me. As far as I can tell, it’s a link-exchange network much like “Automatic Backlinks” is. If you have some sites with PageRank to plug into the system, you can get some decent links back. On it’s own, a link-exchange network usually doens’t do too much good, though. That is, unless you have MANY sites you can plug into the system, so that you get a large amount of credits and backlinks.
Hey…I like the talking head look! Keep the black t-shirt. Glad to hear about BBP updates coming.
Thanks, Marilyn!
Thanks for the updates on Backlink Battleplan. Look fwd for new updates since I’m your customer and already recommended a few customers too.
Thanks, Syed!
Hi Shane, I loved the video -the good thing about the floating face is that there are no distractions and I found myself fascinated just watching and listening to your face (and a very nice face it is). Definitely a turtle neck jumper next time.
Can’t wait for the new update of BBP, my backlinking using the old system is taking less and less time as the sites suggested close, or play up in some way, making them unusable.
By the way I’m Gordon’s wife if you hadn’t already guessed. Thanks again – Joan
Hello Shane and Shane fans,
I just finished your long list of excellent comments. I have a little different take on the floating head thing. Immediately, I think my approach would be PERFECT!
If your editing software allows, use the “chromakey” function to replace the black background, which is perfect for this purpose, with images of Godzilla. I LOVE to place Godzilla in various open mouthed poses with people pictures.
Natch, I use Photoshop. Using this method I create visually stunning backgrounds with little or no intrinsic value. It’s always a delightful surprise to the recipient when their photo is returned to them.
As for Backlink BattlePlan. On my linkbar thingy above my meritorious words here, there are three folders… SEO – Daily$ – Blogs … When you click SEO, the first folder is named… Backlink Battleplan.
Inside that folder are links to the services I use daily, gleaned from your course. Using those services as you outlined, I reach the front page of Google nearly every time. After that, sales are a different matter, but as for SEO…well, you know my admiration for your fantastic BBP. I greedily look forward to the update.
