Question of the week:

Do you have a clear, written business plan for what you are doing online?

Cheers,

Please leave a comment below.
Note that I don’t reply to all comments, but I do read them all. If I don’t reply to your comment, it most likely means that I agree with what you say and don’t have anything meaningful to add, myself. I appreciate and read all comments and your comments play an important part in what I write about, so keep them coming.

  • Really great advice. Military leaders have battle plans, and while you need a plan ahead of time, you still need to be flexible enough to adjust your plans accordingly. Having a structure is important, as it allows you to define goals and obstacles.

    • Hi Jon,
Exactly! It’s that combination of thourough planning and flexibility that’s needed. I imagine this become more and more difficult, the larger a company/business grows.

  • hey when I registered it said Monday, not Tues:
Making Money With Your Own Info-Products
    Monday, April 25, 2011 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT

Tues would actually be better for me, as I’m at work on Monday–
will there be access to a replay?

And yes, I have an outline of what I’d like to do online: a main product, with streams flowing into it–plus a structure for the main product. Now I just need to find the time to put it all together!

    • Oops, sorry about that. I’ve fixed it now. :)
I’ll mail out a reminder tomorrow and shortly before the webinar as well, so that I can keep time-zone confusions to a minimum.

  • Hi Shane,

I do have a clear business plan(s). And its as much alive as I am, in that its continuously changing and growing to reflect my current state of mind.

What I’ve recently implemented is a marketing sales funnel plan where everything is drawn and written out from beginning to end. Your plan comes to life on paper first then online. Its pretty neat, especially for the visual learners of the bunch and when explaining to a partner or someone who’s interested. Its all drawn out like a story board from tactics to strategy, that even a child would find interesting.

By the way, I’m learning a great deal from you and really enjoying the Sunday posts. See you Tuesday!

    Cheers

    Giuseppe

    • Hi Giuseppe,

Yeah, I really like to visually map out my plans and sales-funnels as well. It’s a lot more useful than just a list of bullet-points, IMO.

  • what does those japonese/chinese words mean?

  • Shane:

Dead on post today! I have been writing and developing business plans for myself and other entrepreneurs for 20+ years, both online and offline. My feeling is that for the majority of online entrepreneurs they simply don’t have a plan or vision for what they want for themselves or their business. This fact is a major reason that so many struggle to make it online and find themselves frustrated and unable to break through or even get started. Your business plan is a must for success online or offline and this point cannot be overstated enough! Ironic to listen to your post today because I’m in the process of developing a product/course that addresses just this very subject!

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes that just nails this “business plan” issue dead on!!!

Alice came to the fork in the road.
“Which road do I take?” she asked.
“Where do you want to go?” responded the Cheshire cat.
    “I don’t know,” Alice answered.
“Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter.”

  • Thanks for the Sunday Update!

Question of the week: Do you have a clear, written business plan for what you are doing online?

I am fairly new to internet marketing. My business plans have changed a few times since, I became involved. First significant business plan was dealing with information overload and staying away from the 90% hype and 10% content products. Second plan was to find people that sold products with 90% content and 10% hype. These are two important milestones. My current business plan has been to continue to build on my understanding of this online business.
I signed up for your webinar, April 19th. I am looking forward to learning something new.

  • Awesome Sunday Update!

The following would be very helpful though:

Some of us have no expereince in writing out biz plans and specifically online marketing biz plans that have many facets to it. If you, or anyone else could list some resources/sample templates/anything helpful that could assist us, that would be great :-)

  • Hiya Shane, thanks for your Sunday video…
    Business plan? Yes.

    One of my projects:
I am busy compiling a site where hopefully it will be giving loads of business exposure/advertising to the loacl community – but there is intricate stuff in the back-end and contending with delayed software, etc… waiting game urgh! But overall… exciting.

Have a good week to you and all
