Video Introduction: How to Make Money Online

How long have you been in the Internet marketing game? Can you remember what it was like when you first started out? For me, it wasn’t too long ago that I was completely oblivious to this whole “make money online” world. I already had experience with offline businesses and I even had two ecommerce/online shop sites, but I was totally clueless about everything that relates to Internet marketing as we know it. I didn’t know the first thing about search engines, I didn’t know about blogging or WordPress, I didn’t know how to create a website or even a simple web-page, I didn’t know about hosting and domains and affiliate programs or anything like that.

As I was thinking abou this, I decided to make a video containing as much useful and essential information about making money online as possible, aimed at a complete beginner (basically me, a year ago). I wanted to keep it short and to the point (attention spans are short, these days), so there could only be a very limited amount of information in the video. I had to cut it down to what I believe are the most important things a newbie needs to hear.

Here’s the result and I’d love to know what you think about it:

In case you're interested, here's the link to the report mentioned in the video. So, what do you think? Is this a good place to start, for a newbie? Would you (will you) recommend this to beginners who ask you about how to make money online? Let me know in the comments!

Did you mention affiliate marketing just as an example of “hope and dream marketing” or do you think it’s the best way for beginners to start their Internet marketing business?

Because, people are different and I don’t think affiliate marketing is the best way to start for all people…

But yes, this could very well be something that I would show to beginners who already have some interest towards Internet marketing. It’s very different compared to most of the beginner stuff out there, and in a very good way.

    • Shane says:

I just picked it because it’s a popular example of how “easy” it is to make money online.

I agree that it’s not the best way to start for everyone. In fact, the best thing to do online depends very much on personality and preferences as well as skills a person brings with them.

    Shane, I love your site.

I have one recommendation which may annoy you and if you take me up on it, will cause you more work.

My recommendation is to transcribe your video content below the post.

Why? I don’t like watching videos. I prefer reading. I may be in the minority, but I generally avoid watching videos. Yes, I make videos as well because I know they get watched, but there are many like me who prefer to read.

Besides, when you transcribe the video, you’ll get text content for the search engines – you know this no doubt – but it’s worth saying.

Word-for-word isn’t necessary. Just some bullet points setting out the key points is good enough.

    Thanks for the great site.

      Hi Michael,
I see you point and it’s something I’d considered as well. However, there are quite a few reasons I decided against it. On the one hand, there is of course the extra time needed for doing this. More importantly though, I mostly use video in a very particular way. Sure, sometimes it’s just me talking to the camera and with videos like that, you could just take them and transcribe them to get the same info across. However, I mostly really use all of the audio-visual media in video, demonstrating and illustrating things in various ways. With videos like those, a transcript would be next to useless, as the information only makes sense in conjunction with the images shown in the video.

So, while I know that there are people who prefer text to video, I decided that I simply cannot cater to everyone. Having said that, you’ll find many text-only posts and pages on this site as well.

We’ve taken this product off the market as it’s no longer very relevant. It taught a method that no longer works particularly well, these days.

  • Joe Garma says:

    Absolutely, frigging exactly right!!

“Hope and Dreams” marketing is how the online marketing gurus make their money.

If instead of making money selling the dream, these gurus made some percent of what their advice earned for their clients, they’d be much less flush.

    No doubt about it.
